training days

Chico~ first few days was a reality check for him. I am learning the more I train for the outside world the more I love what I do. I make new friends and learn what NEVER to do when I sell a horse. He was sold to a somewhat beginner level rider young mom, with young kids. Lesson One: Packing a horse doens’t break or train them! He may have packed stuff but I am sure he didn’t like it much or did he learn much. He is getting so much better everyday is a huge step in his progress. He is getting easier about catching, saddling, and even though he hates when your arms flop when ridding him or you touch his butt. He learns that things at the ranch our done the way we like them not the way a horse says they have to be.
Tucker~ well he is a “MAN” sorry men but this young boy likes things done his way. I am taking it slow and yet we are getting things fixed that needed addressed so his owner could enjoy catching, riding and working with him. He is going to learn supply and soft in the bridle cause everytime he has a cow he flexs. He is a smart horse just too smart.
JR~ raised here on the ranch, and sold now in training. He had his first ride under saddle and ground work is a key to good rides. He is fine with so much. He is progessing right along.
Big Girl- has had her feet trimmed all fours and did like a pro she is also doing great on yeilding her quarters. I like her personality. She is willing and smart.
Charlie horse! Yes, his name is Charlie and he bucked with his saddle the first time but we are getting better, he is willing and tries really hard.
Photos of Chico and Tucker are from the trail clinic I did the weekend they came.
